When your best friends are simultaneously accepted into graduate school and get a new job, a celebration is in order. Lucky for them, I knew just the spot to facilitate: Bom Bolla Cava Bar.

I learned about Bom Bolla Cava Bar a few weeks ago from PureWow (if you have not signed up for their email updates, do it now!), and decided it was a RompWorthy destination fit for our fiesta. Bom Bolla opened eleven weeks ago by the same creators as Pops for Champagne, and it is located on Milwaukee in the heart of Wicker Park. They’re a Spanish tapas bar, that offers a wide variety of Spanish wines but specializes in Cava. Cava is Spain’s answer to champagne, only it is slightly fruitier and lighter.

We started out with a bottle of Cava to celebrate the occasion, and it was a great way to wind down a Thursday and roll into the weekend. Not only was the Cava on point, the food was delicious as well. Most of the menu consists of small Spanish plates that are great for sharing. My favorite thing on the menu that I tried was the grilled octopus. It was light and had a hint of lemon sprinkled on top.

The croquettes and grilled pork shoulder bocadillo (Spanish sandwich) are also must-tries. And you can never go wrong with a plate of charcuterie consisting of fresh manchego cheese.

Bom Bolla transported me back to Spain for a few hours and then it was back to reality as we asked for the check from our server. If you are looking somewhere new to try that has a lively vibe, delicious food, and some Spanish bubbly, give Bom Bolla a go.
